Chris is a technology pioneer, having cofounded the first social networking company at Spoke Software, the first open content project at the Open Directory Project & part of the founding team on the first encrypting firewall at Sun Microsystems, as well as being a co-founder and CEO of Topix, which was backed by Tribune, Knight Ridder and Gannett, becoming a top 10 news site prior to being acquired by Publishers Clearing House.
As well as advising the team at the Common Crawl, Chris also is an advisor to multiple VC funds and previously was on the Dean's Advisory Board for the School of Social Sciences at the University of California at San Diego.
